Grateful Dead Bean Bear
Aloha - Birthday 6/17/90
Shoreline Tour Memory:
My first show as at Shoreline. A group of us arrived in San Jose
from Japan. A friend took us to the show but we had no tickets. So our
first words in English were "Cash for your ticket please." We are now a
devoted deadhead family. |

Birthday Show - Birthday
11/5/85 The Centrum Tour Memory:
This worcester show was sizzling. They opened the second
set singing "Happy Birthday" to Bill Walton, who was in attendance. The big
redhead-deadhead had just started playing for the Celtics, and was flanked
by Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. The place went absolutely nuts. When they
played the first thunderous D minor of "Shakedown", the roof almost flew
off. |

El Paso - Birthday 6/10/73
RFK Stadium Tour Memory:
I'll never forget June of 1973. On Saturday the 9th, I married my
wife. The next day, we celebrated at RFK with The Dead and the Allman
Brothers. Midway through the Dead's first set, they played a new one for
us, "They Love Each Other." Something about the feel and the lyrics just
clicked for both of us. We shared a very long and public kiss, and ever
since then, that's been our song. |

Homer - Birthday 4/12/93
Candlestick Park Tour Memory:
I've seen Bobby and Jerry sing live countless times, usually on a
bandstand with guitars, amps, the whole deal. That's why it was so cool
seeing them, along with Vince, singing the National Anthem at home plate in
San Francisco. The sight of the Candlestick wind whipping through Jerry's
hair, the sound of a cappella gold, and the smell of opening day!
Tremendous. |

Mind Bender - Birthday
3/19/95 The Spectrum Tour Memory:
My parents took me to my first show. After a few first set
rockers, they began this spacey intro. My Dad started losing it, and
hugging my Mom. Gradually the whole crowd recognized they were witnessing
history. Afterward, everyone just stood at their seats exchanging high
fives and embraces. That Father's Day I gave my Dad a pristine copy of
3/19/95, the first "Unbroken Chain." |

Treat - Birthday
10/22/83 The Carrier Dome Tour Memory:
It's freshman year up at Syracuse University. The Dead's coming to
the Dome, and bringing The Band as an opening act. I've got 62 cents in my
checking account, but fear not, I've got a ticket. I need no miracle. My
deadhead brethren have infiltrated the campus. The tour de force is the
"Revolution" encore, which I'm sure had John Lennon tapping his foot from
the great beyond. |

Rabbit -
Birthday April 7, 1985 at The Spectrum Tour Memory: "What a double life I lead. Sunday morning I
put on khakis and a sweater, and headed for my grandmother's house for
Easter. After healthy doses of turkey and biblical passages,
I changed clothes, and assumed the role of my alter ego - deadhead
extraordinaire. By the time I made it to Broad Street, I was in classic
form. They opened with "Why Don't We Do it in Road", oh, the irony."

Grateful Dead Bean Bear Freedom -
Birthday 7/4/87 at Schaefer Stadium
Tour Memory "There's
something special about being in Massachusetts on July Fourth, especially
for a Dead show with Dylan on the bill. The Dead played first and crammed
two sets into one. Everybody got the ball, including Brent on "Tons of
Steel", and Phil on "Box." The last set was Dylan and the boys. "I'll Be
Your Baby Tonight" with Jerry on pedal steel was precious. So is being a
deadhead in America." 8 inches tall |
