Grateful Dead Bean Bear Lucky the Bunny
Rabbit -
Birthday April 7, 1985 at The Spectrum Tour Memory: "What a double life I lead. Sunday morning I
put on khakis and a sweater, and headed for my grandmother's house for
Easter. After healthy doses of turkey and biblical passages,
I changed clothes, and assumed the role of my alter ego - deadhead
extraordinaire. By the time I made it to Broad Street, I was in classic
form. They opened with "Why Don't We Do it in Road", oh, the irony."

TOUR MEMORY:
Steam rises out of my head when I recall this show. It’s the beefiest
concert I’ve ever seen… pure testosterone. Everything was up-tempo,
especially tasty covers of Midnight Hour and Walking the Dog, and Jerry
lettin’it all hang out for Might as Well. Brent’s organ solo was absolutely
blazing for Around and Around. To me, this is the period when they rocked
out the most…unabashed savagery. |

TOUR MEMORY:
I’m one of those people who feels the need to convert the uninformed, a.k.a
non-deadheads. One of my work cronies dismissed the Dead as “mellow hippy
music”. I dragged him down to the Greek to prove him wrong. From the first
explosive thud of Shakedown, to the last thundering chorus of Lovelight, the
conversion was a success. We still talk about Jerry’s manic guitar lead
during Morning Dew. |
