Plush Leopard And Cub

Facts included on the Poster Tag:

Leopard (Panthera pardus) can be found wandering the grasslands, deserts, forests, and mountains of Africa (south of the Sahara) and southwestern and southern Asia.  At first a mother leopard hides her cubs in a quiet, sheltered spot.  Eventually she may move them from place to place and when they get older she leads them to their first kill.  After capturing their prey, leopards in Africa usually climb trees and haul the bodies of their victims along with them, out of the sight and reach of other scavenging animals.  Solitary animals, leopards keep away from each other except during mating.  And like other cats, leopards use sound signals to make other animals aware of their presence.  The spots on a leopard help camouflage it in the leaves of trees or in high grasses.  Leopards spend time both on the ground and in trees - they may even leap straight out of a tree onto prey passing below.  Cubs are usually born in pairs of two, and spots on newborns are barely visible - their fur is a dull gray.  Leopards hunt mostly at night, and will eat almost anything they can catch (including birds, monkeys, and even fish).  This fierce cat is smaller than other big cats (like lions and tigers), but its muscular body is lean and strong enough to carry its own weight, plus that of its victim, up a tree.
