Koala Plush

Facts included on the Poster Tag:

Koalas are mammals that can be found in the deciduous, seasonal, and tropical evergreen forests in eastern Australia.  Koalas are marsupials, which means their babies are born underdeveloped and spend months growing in the mother's furry pouch.  When koalas aren't sleeping, they're eating or looking for food.  Their diet consists of eucalyptus leaves.  Koalas need a lot of beauty rest - they sleep for up to 18 hours each day!  Eating lots of vegetation can be tough on the gut, so koalas have special digestive systems that enable them to process the tough leaves and neutralize the leaves' poisonous chemicals.  After a baby koala leaves its mother's pouch, it may spend time hopping rides on its mother's back.
